- Hello,
-
- I have the following problem. By accident I started writing (with tar) at
- the beginning of a DAT tape which already had several tar archives on it.
- Is there any way of getting the tape positioned after the new end of tape
- mark, so that I can access the data that is still on there somewhere?
-
- Tar, tarx, mt, and dd will not let you do this. I have also tried to break off
- a tar process to stop an end of tape being written, but this doesn't work
- either: the error handling will always place two tapemarks and an EOT
- at the end of the tar archive.
-
- Are there any programs to position the tape beyond an EOT mark?
-
- Please mail me any suggestions.
