  22. I can't tell if you're calling uugetty a hack, or talking about a hack
  23. in addition to uugetty.

  25. The machine I run seems to do quite well with sio and 3.2.4's getty.
  26. When I had 3.2.2, it did just as well with uugetty.

  28. However, it does require uugetty functionality (for the lock file
  29. handling), though the -r option isn't necessary when things are
  30. configured properly.

  37. It always has for me.  Perhaps that's because I've always used the
  38. modem port (tty1A) for both dialin and dialout.  I only use the 
  39. non-modem port (tty1a) for talking to the modem through a direct
  40. cu session (i.e. "cu -ltty1a -s19200 dir").  This is how SCO's
  41. documentation described the setup as far back as Xenix 2.3.2.

  43. SCO's cu and uucico appear to do the right thing when they open the
  44. port, setting O_NDELAY until after DCD turns on (or the login script
  45. completes, or something).

  48. Now my machine doesn't take many calls per day (probably 5 or 6).
  49. Perhaps sio has trouble when there's more activity, but it seems
  50. to me that it has those two features you asked about.
