  20.     somewhere deep in their lab but there were 2 problems:

  22.     1) The UNIX crew wanted source for ALL the drivers to be available
  23.        to the end users and GVP was less that thrilled at the prospect
  24.        of this.

  26.     2) Ali hated, still hates?, GVP mightily and to suggest that GVP
  27.        drivers be allowed on AmigaUNIX would probably be a one way
  28.        ticket to a pink slip, not that it mattered for the UNIX people
  29.        in the end... B^(.

  31.     The main problem is that the drivers have to be in the floppy boot
  32.     kernel in order to access the drives in the first place. This means
  33.     one of three things:
  34.  
  35.     1) Loadable device drivers, definitely not an option in SVR4.0.
  36.     2) Drivers had to be shipped already in the OS.
  37.     3) GVP had to buy and AT&T source/distribution license and distribute
  38.        their own boot floppys. A VERY pricey idea and a logistics nightmare
  39.        for C= v.s. GVP kernel syncronization.

  41.     So, to make a long story short: GVP drivers for AmigaUNIX will never
  42.     happen. Either use a 2091 on a 2000 or forget about AmigaUNIX...
