- I've been working on a problem off and on for the last four weeks with IBM
- trying to get FDDI up and running on our RS/6000 model 560. In short, we're
- trying to get FDDI up on the IBM dual attached with two Cabletron
- concentrators. The two concentrators work fine together. We have various
- machines on the other side of the network accessing both concentrators with
- no problems. When we put the IBM in the ring and try to communicate out or
- in, nothing. What's odd is that we get a link to the cards, but cannot see
- the card's address using the Cabletron Lanview software. We have tried
- changing out adapter cards, reconfiguring, bringing down every other adapter
- on the IBM, etc. The error log indicates that the card tries to receive
- something, encounters an error, then immediately goes into an error recovery
- mode, and shuts down. This pattern is consistent each time we configure.
- We suspect that there is a compatibility problem with the IBM and the
- Cabletron concentrators. Is there anyone out there who has IBM RS/6000
- equipment running dual and/or single attached with Cabletron concentrators?
-
- Thanks in advance!
