- I am trying to figure out a way to do mksysb backups but do not include
- the /home directory. This is because I would like to do more frequent
- backups of the /home directory and less frequent system backups since
- nothing much changes there.
-
- I looked into the documentation of the mksysb command and learned that
- it reads the image information from the .fs.size file in the root
- directory. Could I just delete the line for the /home directory in
- fs.size file and manually do a mksysb (smit startup - system backup first
- runs the mkfssize! commnd to create .fs.size file).
-
- Will this work? I presume it will. But if I restore the system from such
- an image and also have a backup of /home directory (assuming users are the
- same) and I restore that via tar will it work? How about mount points of
- the users? is there a way to include in the image just the root part of
- the /home directory?
-
- I will appreciate a solution to this problem very much. Thanks,
