  12. I'm checking all telnet and ftp connections on my workstation. But using
  13. tcp-wrapper I only get the following message in my syslog file:
  14. ... in.ftpd[..]: connect from <host> or <user@host>.
  15. (Whether it's <host> or <user@host> depends on the host using RFC 931.)

  17. What I really like to know is if this is a successful try to get into
  18. my system, i.e. does the user know how to login? Has anyone an idea how to
  19. do this check? I thought of running a program that checks the user of
  20. in.ftpd or in.telnetd because in.ftpd changes user from root to the actual
  21. one if the login is successful but in.telnetd doesn't.
