- I'm checking all telnet and ftp connections on my workstation. But using
- tcp-wrapper I only get the following message in my syslog file:
- ... in.ftpd[..]: connect from <host> or <user@host>.
- (Whether it's <host> or <user@host> depends on the host using RFC 931.)

- What I really like to know is if this is a successful try to get into
- my system, i.e. does the user know how to login? Has anyone an idea how to
- do this check? I thought of running a program that checks the user of
- in.ftpd or in.telnetd because in.ftpd changes user from root to the actual
- one if the login is successful but in.telnetd doesn't.
