- Thomas, here is another voice to say "yes, STC is worth joining."
- Binion Amerson posted the shopping list of benefits, but missed
- an important one...more and more, membership in the STC is being
- comnsidered as a statement of the professionalism and integrity
- of a technical writer. STC is not a certifying/licensing body
- (not yet at least), but it *is* a professional organization, and
- one that can stnad you in good stead when looking for a job,
- looking for information about courses, training, etc., or
- just finding a fellow writer to bitch about over beers about how
- dumb users can be and how engineers don't truly appreciate writers. :-)
- As a student, the cost for joining is minimal, and the benefits
- immense. My membership has more than repaid the cost of my dues.
