- I'm trying to tie-down the final logic in a VT320 terminal emulator
- I've written, and am getting conflicting notions of how the National
- Replacement Character Sets are used.. Anyone own up to understanding
- this? :)
-
- The basic understanding problem i have is how the "hardware" keyboard
- type and the selection of "software" Character Sets in G0-G3 interact.
-
- From what i understand, the input side of translation always is
- hardwired to the current hardware keyboard type, setup in the NVRAM of
- the DEC terminal. So there is always the twelve character remapping
- "statically" done on the input side, independent of application
- software.
-
- Assuming this is true, the question is the effect of Character Set
- selection for G0 thru G3 on the output side, and how this affects what
- appears on the screen. And what is the default output when going into
- NRCS mode (<ESC>?42h) with all this..
-
- Anyone out there understand all this? If so please send some email to
- enlighten me, thanks a lot!
