- Agreed, Novell is irritating. I've found that our VARs often have
- problems answering questions, even if they supposedly have staff
- with "CNE" training. You can pose questions on Compuserve, if you
- don't want to pay for phone support, are willing to pay for
- Compu$erve. There, of course, is a Novell news group here on the
- internet too; we've had some success getting questions answered by
- people who read that group.
-
- DOS users that work in Winodws might want to take a look at
- Chameleon by Netmanage. There are several flavors available.
- There is a TCP/IP pacakge, an IPX package and an NFS package.
- I've got the TCP/IP version on my computer here in the office. It
- uses a core of Microsoft LAN Magager, and has NDIS drivers to
- allow multiple protocol stacks. The TCP/IP version has an SL/IP
- driver, which is what I'm using because my office is too far away
- from co-ax for a real network connection. Telnet, FTP, TFTP, SMTP
- mail agent, ping and SNMP responder are included. The best part of
- the package is that the bulk of the support code is in a Windows
- dynamic link library that doesn't take up that 640K partition.
- Chameleon can also do routing if you have SL/IP and/or one or
- more network cards.
