We recently purchased a used 030 cube with a defective optical disk drive, we knew about the drive. With the computer, we go
t some opticals that had apparently been messed up by the drive, here is what I have been able to piece together:
1) the disks that were put into the system have had all their labels erased, and some sectors have been written incorrectly
2) I think that the problem was in the ECC circuitry, this is a guess.
What I want to do is to be able to recoup the data from the damaged disks without any loss. This is probably impossible if it was the ECC circuitry but does anybody have any idea I how I wo
uld start the recovery procedure?
Note: I have looked in NeXTAnswers and have reviewed the disk command. I have also tried fsck -b ????? /dev/rod0a but that does not work either.
