  18. (Stockholm, November 20, 1992) Xanthus International AB today announced  
  19. that it is shipping SplitBuilder/Receiver 2.0, a utility program for the  
  20. NeXT computer that makes it possible for users to send files of any size  
  21. with NeXTmail by dividing them into smaller files.

  23. A problem with NeXTmail is that sometimes you want to send attachments  
  24. that are so big that some gateways on the net will refuse to deliver your  
  25. letter because of its size.

  27. SplitBuilder/Receiver solves this problem by allowing the sender to divide  
  28. big files into smaller pieces, called "splits". By clicking a button, all  
  29. the split files are sent as NeXTmail attachments. The receiver can then  
  30. easily assemble the splits by drag-and-drop to restore the original file.  
  31. No knowledge about UNIX is needed to be able to assemble the original file  
  32. from the split files.

  34. "We save a lot of time and money by using SplitBuilder/Receiver  
  35. ourselves", says Jesper Lundh, marketing manager at Xanthus. "We can  
  36. quickly deliver new version upgrades, as well as beta- and demo copies of  
  37. our products by just clicking two buttons. Both the version 1.1 upgrade of  
  38. CraftMan and the beta copies of our newly announced spreadsheet Questor  
  39. are distributed using the SplitBuilder/Receiver."

  41. SplitBuilder/Receiver consists of three different applications:

  43. - SplitBuilder divides big files into smaller pieces ("splits") that can  
  44. be sent by NeXTmail.
  45.  
  46. - SplitMailer automatically creates one letter for each split file,  
  47. inserts the split file and sends the letters.
  48.  
  49. - SplitReceiver puts all the splits together on the receivers machine. The  
  50. SplitReceiver is not copy protected and can automatically be sent in the  
  51. first letter by the SplitMailer.

  53. Users of SplitBuilder/Receiver 1.0 will automatically get a free upgrade  
  54. to version 2.0.
