- Xanthus International Announces
-
- SplitBuilder/Receiver 2.0
-
- - for sending large files with NeXTmail
-
- (Stockholm, November 20, 1992) Xanthus International AB today announced
- that it is shipping SplitBuilder/Receiver 2.0, a utility program for the
- NeXT computer that makes it possible for users to send files of any size
- with NeXTmail by dividing them into smaller files.
-
- A problem with NeXTmail is that sometimes you want to send attachments
- that are so big that some gateways on the net will refuse to deliver your
- letter because of its size.
-
- SplitBuilder/Receiver solves this problem by allowing the sender to divide
- big files into smaller pieces, called "splits". By clicking a button, all
- the split files are sent as NeXTmail attachments. The receiver can then
- easily assemble the splits by drag-and-drop to restore the original file.
- No knowledge about UNIX is needed to be able to assemble the original file
- from the split files.
-
- "We save a lot of time and money by using SplitBuilder/Receiver
- ourselves", says Jesper Lundh, marketing manager at Xanthus. "We can
- quickly deliver new version upgrades, as well as beta- and demo copies of
- our products by just clicking two buttons. Both the version 1.1 upgrade of
- CraftMan and the beta copies of our newly announced spreadsheet Questor
- are distributed using the SplitBuilder/Receiver."
-
- SplitBuilder/Receiver consists of three different applications:
-
- - SplitBuilder divides big files into smaller pieces ("splits") that can
- be sent by NeXTmail.
-
- - SplitMailer automatically creates one letter for each split file,
- inserts the split file and sends the letters.
-
- - SplitReceiver puts all the splits together on the receivers machine. The
- SplitReceiver is not copy protected and can automatically be sent in the
- first letter by the SplitMailer.
-
- Users of SplitBuilder/Receiver 1.0 will automatically get a free upgrade
- to version 2.0.
