  10. The V3.0.7 patch release we have mentioned is now available for those
  11. who need it.  It will be sent out automatically for new Isis orders 
  12. (including academic ones) but if you already have V3.0.7 it won't be
  13. sent to you unless you request it.

  15. This patch is exactly the same as V3.0.7 but with some minor problems
  16. corrected, all of which turned up after V3.0.7 went out:
  17.    - Slow performance with overlapped groups using the "x" option
  18.    - Slow performance on some platforms that disable TCP_NODELAY by default
  19.      on creation of TCP connections.
  20.    - Tendency to hang when extremely rapid sequences of pg_leave/pg_join
  21.      or pg_delete/pg_join are done.
  22.    - Performance problems seen with the spooler because of 
  23.         * it not using bypass communication, and
  24.         * lack of appropriate flow-control mechanisms
  25.      These matter mostly to people doing wide-area communication directly
  26.      over the wide-area subsystem or through the WAN news interfaces
  27.  
  28. V3.0.8 will be a genuinely new release, and when it comes out there will
  29. be a substantial performance improvement in the WAN mechanisms and spooler,
  30. as well as heavy use of IP multicast (when available from the vendor) all
  31. through ISIS, and the ability to connect to ISIS from a Macintosh on Mac OS,
  32. from a PC, and perhaps from NT.  Availability of V3.0.8 is planned for
  33. very early in 1993 -- mid to late January.
