- There are a number of performance increasing things you can do, and none
- of them relate specifically to that drive. I recommend you do not mess
- with it if it works. You should go ahead and make BIOS changes to use
- shadow RAM, set up PC-KWIK or N-CACHE to provide disk caching that is
- software based, etc. The drive type 17 is the recommended drive type
- for all Conner ~40Mb drives. You are asking for trouble if you play with
- low-level formats on an IDE drive that *already works*.

- You might double-check with FDISK to see if your partition is really
- using 100% of the drive. If not, you can make a new partition to the
- larger size (leaving the BIOS parms alone).

- Remember that you have a fundamentally *slow* drive -- those Conners
- are about 25ms (not *that* slow, but not great by today's standards).
- Don't try to make it something it is not.
