- No joy. Same symptoms. But thanks for the suggestion!

- The annoying aspect of this problem is that the drive writes HD's just fine
- once they're formatted. What's the difference between ordinary I/O and
- formatting that would cause only FORMAT to fail? (In fact, FORMAT will fail
- if I use it on a formatted diskette that I could otherwise write on!)
