- I have a Trident 8900C card (BIOS 2.11c with 1M on board) and TVM 4A+
- SuperVGA monitor. When I run XFree86-1.1 (unix-like X window system), the
- screen is full of vertical lines (more than 200 lines from top to bottom),
- and I can barely see the contents of the screen. It has been like this for more
- than two weeks, but before that, it sometimes works, sometimes gave the same
- screen. Finally, I tried to install Microsoft Windows 3.0 and 3.1 to see if that
- was because of the un*x trident driver problem, but to my surprise, the
- DOS trident driver (get from ftp.cica.indiana.edu for the latest version)
- gave me same vertical lines, and color is pretty much distorded, but the screen
- looked perfect for 640x480 resulotion in window 3.0 and 3.1.
-
- Does someone have similar experience? Does some expert know if it was
- the Trident card problem or SuperVGA problem? BTW: the documentation came
- along the system said both trident card and monitor should support
- 1024x768 non-interlaced mode.
