- Hello: I tried to reply by email twice, but it bounced (twice) so I'll
- try posting.
- Mike:
-
- The adapter is available from Logitech. They told me it would cost
- $25. I picked up the mouse for $15 as a demo. I doubt that there would
- be electronics inside the adapter, but maybe some of the pins are connected
- together on one side or the other. My other mouse, a 6 year old Logitech
- C7, works fine with just gnd, rx, and tx lines. Did you try the adaptor
- with your mouse? Did it work?
-
- I tried swapping the cable from a series 9 serial mouse (model cc-93-9f)
- onto mine, but it didn't work. It had a different circuit board from my
- rodent.
-
- For what it's worth:
-
- red ... ground/common
- yellow ... data probably
- black ... data clock on ps/2 port
- brown ... who knows
- orange ... +5 vdc on ps/2 port
- shield ... like it says
-
- These are the wires on the connector inside the mouse, in the order in
- which they appear. I'm kind of tempted to just hack off the ps/2
- connector and see what happens if I use the yellow wire as TXD, red as
- common, and black as RXD.
-
- I haven't had any email replies to my question. I was afraid that
- thousands of good samaritans would be going to a lot of trouble on
- my behalf, measuring their adaptors with ohmeters and test lights.
- Evidently not.
-
- Anyway, thanks for the reply. I always wonder if my post made it out at
- all. I guess if I want more replies I should ask FAQs. :)
-
- regards,
- Dave
