- The problem is to put the complete OS on a small disk (80 Mb). Since
- the disk is too small to contain even the smallest distribution (Aegis
- small), during the installation you have to remove some directories
- using a second window. I removed the following directories:
-
- /sau[2..12] (except the sau for your machine)
- /sys/debug
- /sys/hardcopy
- /usr/apollo/ada
- /usr/lib.uucp
- /usr/X11
-
- In my first attempt I also removed the directory '/sys/dm/fonts',
- because I incorrectly assumed that the fonts loaded by the boot tape
- were sufficient to start the dm.
-
- However using the above procedure I still had a little problem with the
- rgyd because it wasn't installed in the 'etc' directory. A simple copy
- from the /install/ri.apollo.os.10.3/etc/rgyd solved this. After the
- installation and a reboot I have approximately 18 Mb of free storage.
-
-
- Thanks to all who suggested me to keep the dm fonts.
