- If a user installs his/her own color_map into user_data, it is just a matter
- of time for the colors on the node to eventually become all hosed up. When
- the node is in the state, The mouse leaves a tail on the screen when running
- GNU Emacs in the pad.
-
- Whenever there is a loss of power, and the node reboots itself when power
- restores, it is almost certain that the user will see really awful colors in
- DM pads after logging in. Some users claim that if they log out and log back
- in the colors are restored to their custom choices. Others claim that they
- have to reboot the node before this happens.
-
- When the colors are in a hosed state, if I rename my custom color map in
- user_data and then type CTRL-L, to refresh the screen, the system default
- colors are restored. But if I then rename my custom color map back to the
- name "color_map" and type CTRL-L again, the colors are hosed again. Attempts
- to change the colors via "lcm -s" are ignored by the system.
-
- Here's the steps I have to perform to restore my custom colors:
-
- 1. Rename ~/user_data/color_map to something else;
- 2. Reboot the node by pressing the reset button;
- 3. Manually (or in a shell script) enter my custom color selections
- using the "lcm -s" command;
- 4. Rename my custom color map back to color_map.
-
- Is this problem unique to our site? Or is it a known problem? Anyone know of
- a workaround to prevent this from happening? Is there a simpler way to clean
- up the colors when they screw up?
