- Right now, I have an Amiga 3000 16MHz with 40 MB hardrive
- and 1 Meg FAST RAM and 1 Meg CHIP RAM. I want to add more
- RAM to my system because 2 Megs just isn't enough.
-
- Anyways, I have heard that this is what I need to do:
-
- 1) Take the 1 Meg FAST RAM and put it in the empty CHIP RAM
- sockets so I have 2 Megs of CHIP RAM
-
-
- 2) Get 4 Megs of STATIC COLUMN ZIPS 70ns (1Mx4) and put them into
- the FAST RAM sockets.
-
- Now, in the "Intoducing the Amiga 3000" book I got, it says
- that FAST MEM has 4 banks each consisting of 8 sockets. If
- using 1Mx4 RAM chips, then each bank gives you 4 megabytes.
-
- Does this mean that I only nead to purchase 8 1Mx4 static
- column zips 70ns? Memory World sells these for $15.50
-
- Does this mean that I only nead to spend $124.00 for 4 megs?
- That seems pretty cheap.
-
-
- 3) Change jumper J852 from pins 2-3 to pins 1-2
-
-
- Is that really it? Is it really only $124.00 for 4 additional megs?
- Thanks!
