  11. Right now, I have an Amiga 3000 16MHz with 40 MB hardrive
  12. and 1 Meg FAST RAM and 1 Meg CHIP RAM.  I want to add more
  13. RAM to my system because 2 Megs just isn't enough.

  15. Anyways, I have heard that this is what I need to do:

  17.  1) Take the 1 Meg FAST RAM and put it in the empty CHIP RAM
  18.     sockets so I have 2 Megs of CHIP RAM

  21.  2) Get 4 Megs of STATIC COLUMN ZIPS 70ns (1Mx4) and put them into
  22.     the FAST RAM sockets.
  23.  
  24.     Now, in the "Intoducing the Amiga 3000" book I got, it says
  25.     that FAST MEM has 4 banks each consisting of 8 sockets.  If
  26.     using 1Mx4 RAM chips, then each bank gives you 4 megabytes.

  28.     Does this mean that I only nead to purchase 8 1Mx4 static
  29.     column zips 70ns?  Memory World sells these for $15.50

  31.     Does this mean that I only nead to spend $124.00 for 4 megs?
  32.     That seems pretty cheap.

  35.  3) Change jumper J852 from pins 2-3 to pins 1-2
