- Ok, I'll admit that I got my Super Denise chip from Grapevine (I can hear the
- flamethrowers firing up already :). Actually, I ordered the Super Denise, two
- CIA chips and an 68882 on the same order. Everything arrived about 12 days
- later, correctly packed in anti-static tubes or foam. The Super Denise chip
- had *NO* markings on it at all. There was a little paper slip that said they
- (Grapevine) had received the chips from Commodore without the markings. After
- installing the new Denise, I ran through all of the new display modes, they all
- worked fine after I tweaked the fine tuning on my 2320 display enhancer.
- Grapevine included a test disk with the Super Denise that was helpful in
- setting the fine tuning. It displays several high-res interlaced and ham
- pictures. The tests do not use any of the new display resolutions that the
- Super Denise provides however.
-
- I've used all of the chips that I got from Grapevine, they all have worked fine
- so far (since August for the Super Denise and the 68882). I probably would
- have ordered from someone else except that Grapevine was selling 25 mhz 68882's
- for $49! When I placed my order (by telephone), I tried asking about some
- memory chips but the lady taking the order said that if it didn't have a
- catalog number, she had no way to look up the information. I have a couple of
- Grapvine's catalogs but they were out of date when I placed my order from
- their ad in Amiga World.
-
- The unmarked Denise chip bothers me a little, I wonder if Grapevine managed to
- get a batch of rejected chips from Commodore or if they are legitimate and
- there was an honest goof where they didn't get labeled.
-
- These are my experiences only! Yours will vary! I seem to be one of the lucky
- few who have had a positive experience ordering from Grapevine.
