- I'd like to know if someone out there gets better performances versus the ones
- a get when I use pcnfslpd from pc-nfs 4.0a...
-
- For example, to print the winlogo (size: 100Kb), from windows paintbrush, on
- a hp laserjet seriesII printer (connected to a 286-10MHz parallel port), takes
- approximately 25 minutes...(very long)
-
- Setup :
-
- The PC is a 286-10MHz configured in dedicated mode. Its network card is a
- Etherlink III 3c509.
- The Sun server is a SS2 running SunOS 4.1.2 and pcnfsd v2.0
-
- Here's how it goes..
-
- The transfer between SS2 and the pc print server takes place only 2 minutes
- after the print command has been executed from the PC!!!
-
- It takes more than 20 minutes to transfer the 100Kb file from the SS2 to
- the pc... Humm...
-
- My printcap looks like this:
-
- pcprtsrv1-hp|pc-hpb|PC HP LaserJet II:\
- :lp=:\
- :rm=pcprtsrv1:\
- :rp=LPT1:\
- :mx#0:\
- :sd=/var/spool/printers/pcprtsrv1-hp:\
- :lf=/var/spool/printers/pcprtsrv1-hp/log:
-
- If I use a 486-33, I get better performances (6 minutes 30 sec.) but it's
- still too long...
-
- Any help or comments would be appreciated,
- Thanks.
