- Has anyone out there taken advantage of the "discount offer" from
- CD Technology, Inc. which is included with the October 19th version
- of the PDK CD-ROM? I've been tempted to, since I don't own a CD_ROM
- drive or a SCSI adapter and have had to borrow hardware to load
- parts of the PDK, so I called CD Technology last week to inquire
- about the "PC/XT/AT/386/486 Adapter" they are offering for $100 each
- and was told (by Alberto) that the adapter in question is a
- Future Domain TMC850M. Being the curious sort, I picked up a Computer
- Shopper over the weekend to do some comparison shopping and found that
- these adapters are widely available for from $59 - $79. The Toshiba
- XM-3301 drive appears to be competitively priced at $400 - $450.
-
- My questions to anyone who may have already ordered and received shipment are:
-
- 1. Did Alberto mis-speak when he quoted the model number
- of the Future Domain adapter?
-
- 2. Do they really ship something like the Future Domain TMC1670,
- which generally goes for between $159 and $179?
-
- 3. Did what you got from CD Tech. work?
-
- 4. Do you have any other comments on the experience?
-
- Thanks,
- Carl
