- I am trying to set up HP LaserJet II and III printers on two
- OS/2 NetWare-attached workstations. I am using the RPRINTER
- program supplied with the requestor to set up network printing.
-
- RPRINTER works OK until someone logs in to the workstation and
- tries to CAPTURE the printer port--at that point no one on the network
- can print jobs to the remote printer, and if they try a continuously
- growing spoolfile starts bouncing back and forth between the local
- (attached) printer queue and the network queue.
-
- I assume that the CAPTURE command is wresting control of LPT1 away
- from RPRINTER, and therefore a spooling loop of sorts is generated.
-
- With our old 2.15 network, we used the LANSPOOL VAP and were able
- to attach printers to workstations that would continue to work even
- if the user of the workstation subsequently did a CAPTURE to a network
- queue.
-
- Can anyone explain to me how we can accomplish this with NW 3.11, OS/2
- requester RPRINTER, and OS/2 2.0?
-
- Andy
