- Greetings. I wanted to start EPM minimized, but it does not honor
- the request and always opens a window. I first tried the dodge of
- misspelling the program name, checking the "Start Minimized" box,
- then correcting the name. This start EPM just fine, but not mini-
- mized as I had hoped. Thinking that the dodge might not work for
- some reason, I tried "start /min epm" with no better success: EPM
- does not honor the request to start minimized (it doesn't have to,
- the description of the start command warns of this). Still, I'd
- like to do just that. Is there a way?
-
- 2nd question. I'm an EMACS hack -- OK! OK! Hold it down! We're
- supposed to have freedom of religion here :-). I don't care to
- debate the relative merits of EMACS vs. EPM or anything else. A
- programmer's choice of editor is private and there's no use nor
- need to fight about it. I like what I've seen of EPM and it
- seems to be very amenable to reprogramming. It looks as though
- it could be endowed with a high degree of EMACS'ish behavior at
- the keystroke level. I'll be able to do it myself eventually,
- but I was wondering if anyone else has undertaken the job. If
- so, would you please share?
-
- (Yes, I know I could simply learn a new set of keystrokes, but
- I'd be happier to maintain consistency in the various environ-
- ments I work in while still being able to avail myself of
- advantages available in each of the major environments I work
- in (Unix in several flavors, MSDOS, and -- now -- OS/2).
-
- Of course I know that I can get genuine Gnu Emacs for OS/2 and I
- had installed it on my previous, now defunct, hard drive and I
- could do it again. However, PM window update performance exceeds
- that of windowed VIO on my ET4000 in SVGA mode (it's really
- amazing the difference), and I don't want to clutter my hard disk
- with a multitude of redundant utilities such as editors (and I
- just plain don't have the room! 235 MB on two hard drives seemed
- like a lot with DOS/Windows, but it's much less so with OS/2).
-
- regards,
