  14. Awhile ago I posted a request on how to get DOS VDM's working
  15. so they will not give me general write failure's when I
  16. attempt to write to the physical drive where the image
  17. file exists.  Thanks to all those who responded telling
  18. me I *had* to include the FSFILTER in my config.sys.
  19.  
  20. But I'm still having problems.
  21.  
  22. I included the line DEVICE=FSFILTER.SYS on the disk that
  23. I wanted to make an image out of and pathed all the
  24. other *.SYS files (e.g. EMM386, HIMEM, etc) to the OS/2
  25. equiv's in OS2/MDOS.  Only now, when I try to release the
  26. image via FSACCESS A:, my machine locks up.  Here's my
  27. line of reasoning:

  29. (1)  I make the image file and boot from it.  From the 
  30.      image file I type: FSACCESS A: and get a bad command
  31.      error because it isn't pathed.  Okay, so:
  32.  
  33. (2)  I change to the directory where FSACESS is located on the
  34.      hard drive and type FSACCESS A: and the machine locks up.
  35.      Reboot.
  36.  
  37. (3)  Okay, the instructions say to execute this from the 
  38.      prompt referencing the image file (i.e. A:\), so I
  39.      path the FSACCESS program in the AUTOEXEC.BAT on the
  40.      floppy disk and recreate the image file.  Now the
  41.      image file hangs when starting.  Hmmm... Reboot.
  42.  
  43. (4)  Okay, so take out the path and just physically
  44.      reference the fsaccess program from the image file.
  45.      So I create and boot the image file and type
  46.      c:\os2\fsaccess A: and the system hangs.  Reboot.
  47.  
  48. (5)  Okay, maybe the fsaccess program needs to be on
  49.      the image file.  So I copy FSACCESS onto the floppy
  50.      and recreate the image.  After booting, I type
  51.      FSACCESS A: and the systems hangs.
  52.  
  53. What am I doing wrong?  The instructions don't go into
  54. much detail about how to get around this.  Any answers?
