- Be Careful of the OS/2 2.0 ATI Ultra Drivers!
- I installed them, and my system won't boot up any longer. It
- appears that all I have to do is replace my config.sys with the
- backed up config.sys, but I can't get access to my E: Drive!
- OK, I'll start at the beginning. I downloaded the ATI drivers
- and printed out the readme file. I then proceeded to change from
- the 8514/a drivers to the VGA drivers (like ATI says to do). I ran
- their program (PMINST.COM), which was supposed to change my
- config.sys and back up my old one. It then told me to reboot. My
- machine hasn't booted since (at least, not OS/2)! It boots up most
- of the way, then just stall. All of the folders are there, but they
- don't have any program objects in them. I can't move the mouse, and
- I can't warm-boot. In fact, theirs nothing I can do but sit there
- until I decide that OS/2 isn't going to boot. So then I try to
- boot a couple more times. The same thing always happens. (Even
- pulse starts up, but that's it!).
- Alright, everybody's saying, well at least your config.sys is
- backed up. That's what I said, anyway. I used the Install
- disks which came with OS/2 and got to the CLI from those. I
- switched to E: (where OS/2 is), and tried to get a dir. Nothing
- happened! It gave me some sort of error (Can't read disk, or
- something like that). So now there's nothing I can think of to do!
- So in the end, any help I can get from anybody would be
- *greatly* appreciated. And remember, be very caregul with those ATI
- drivers!
