-
- I tend to disagree with the trend this discussion is taking. TCP/IP
- 1.2.1 from os/2 is a wonderful program. there is NO other platform in
- the world that will run X, os/2, windows, and dos programs for $2500
- including hardware software and the entire ball of wax.
-
- While it doesn't outrun the DecStation 5000s in our clusters in X
- performance, with my token ring connection and 486/33 w 8megs, I get
- more than satisfactory performance. No I won't do any real time graphics
- on this baby but for most X applications it is satisfactory.
-
- You should notice that by saying that it is as bad as you are you
- are discouraging future tcpip/X buyers by exxagerating the slowness. I
- have often had 4 or 5 seperate x applications running along with word
- for windoze 2.0 and an os/2 command shell and had my swapfile as low as
- 7megs.
