  13. I have seen various message in this area concerning NT hanging either
  14. during installation or trying to boot it.
  15.  
  16. There is one area that I found which will cause NT to hang all the time
  17. (at least on my system) and others should know about this either when
  18. trying to install NT or trying to get NT up and running.
  19.  
  20. I have a dot matrix printer off my parallel port and I can hang
  21. NT all the time if I turn the printer off and leave the cable connected!
  22.  
  23. If I disconnect the cable the system will resume or not hang.
  24.  
  25. At some point during the install NT will try to initialize the printer
  26. and at this point if the printer is not turned on setup will hang.
  27.  
  28. And if while NT is booting it cannot send out its init data, it will hang
  29.  
  30. So anyone who is having problems either installing or running NT
  31. make sure the printer is turned on or disconnected!

  33. Microsoft: I reported this bug in the July release through this
  34.            internet area and I had hoped that it would have been fixed by
  35.            now. Maybe in the next release or final release?
