- I have seen various message in this area concerning NT hanging either
- during installation or trying to boot it.
-
- There is one area that I found which will cause NT to hang all the time
- (at least on my system) and others should know about this either when
- trying to install NT or trying to get NT up and running.
-
- I have a dot matrix printer off my parallel port and I can hang
- NT all the time if I turn the printer off and leave the cable connected!
-
- If I disconnect the cable the system will resume or not hang.
-
- At some point during the install NT will try to initialize the printer
- and at this point if the printer is not turned on setup will hang.
-
- And if while NT is booting it cannot send out its init data, it will hang
-
- So anyone who is having problems either installing or running NT
- make sure the printer is turned on or disconnected!
-
- Microsoft: I reported this bug in the July release through this
- internet area and I had hoped that it would have been fixed by
- now. Maybe in the next release or final release?
