- I bought a 386-40 motherboard a while ago. My friend also bought
- a complete 386-40 motherboard system just last week. The salesman
- told her that the motherboard will accept a 486 as future upgrade d
- directly in the socket. I noticed that the AMD-40 was mounted
- on what looked like to be a small card which then was mounted into the
- processor socket. My motherboard has the same thing. Does anybody
- know if that the AMD-40 plugs into the socket VIA this type of
- adapter, it too can be upgraded at any time to a 486??
- BTW: what does a 486-33 chip go for nowadays.
-
- I need the speed for Linux and some FE programs and that is why
- I posted it in this newsgroup.
