- I have been using linux for a few weeks now and am very impressed. My X
- environment is set up very similar to my environment at work (of course
- within the limitations of my crippled little 386/25) and I want to go the
- step further.
-
- I have a 9600 baud modem at home connected to my PC, and I have dialout
- capabilities at work. There is also a SLIP line at work that I could use.
- Anyhow, I want to be able to dial-in from home and feel like I am on the
- network at work so I can do things like copy files back and forth and run
- processes on my work machine with the display coming back over the serial
- modem line. I would also like to be able to dial out from work to my
- machine at home in cases where I forgot to bring a file in, or I want to
- transfer some files in that direction.
-
- I am using SLS linux .98pl2. I don't have TCP/IP compiled in (I
- didn't rebuild the kernel with it at least) yet and I suppose I have to do
- this (maybe). but I am only guessing what I need to do.
-
- I know people on the net have done this, but I have little network
- experience and am not sure what steps I need to take. If anyone who has
- done this could give me a hand - I would really appreciate it! :^)
