- The story so far...when I first installed Linux back in
- early July, I got X up and running in 1024x768 mode on my
- Diamond Speedstar 24. It was probably just dumb luck (because I
- didn't have the foggiest idea what I was doing). Now, it seems
- that my dot clocks are totally blank except for 25 and 28 (the
- standard settings). Now I had heard some grumbling about this on
- this news group but didn't really pay attention because it didn't
- seem to be affecting me. I had to reinstall my system and I
- didn't save my Xconfig and now with X11v2.x it seems that it can't
- determine any of my dot clocks. But, if I run windows in 1024x768
- mode and then warm boot over to Linux everything works great, the
- clocks are set and I get 1024x768. So my questions are:
-
-
- 1) Why did X suddenly loose the ability to set the dot clocks
- itself...or am I doing something wrong.
-
- 2) If it has lost this ability, is there anyway of hacking out
- the Windows driver or VMODE.COM so that I can set them
- again *FROM LINUX*.
-
-
- As it stands now, I have to boot DOS, run windows,
- exit windows and ctrlaltdel over to Linux. This is getting old.
