  13.    I'm having problems ftp'ing to my linux machine.  I have a 486/33
  14. running 0.98pl4.  I've made all the necessary changes to /usr/etc/inet
  15. services, inetd.conf etc. etc but when I try to ftp to the machine
  16. i get the following,

  18.    $ ftp fiddle
  19.    Connected to fiddle.geophys.mcgill.ca
  20.    421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
  21.  
  22. I guess my question is - Are there any security options that I'm
  23. overlooking?  Like inetd.sec or something like that.

  25.    Also, if I try to telnet to fiddle and login as root the machine
  26. refuses, but I am able to login and then su, no problem.  Is there
  27. any way to get around this?
