  14. I am having problems with my compiler.  If run as non-root, it 
  15. gives the following error:
  16.                       ld: No such file or directory for crt0.o
  17. but as root, things (small programs) compile ok.
  18.  
  19. However, I have not been able to compile any of the packages, 
  20. (Mailpak 1.3, Emacs
  21. as I get various errors, such as:
  22. (compiling mail from mailpak 1.3)
  23. gcc: installation problem, cannot exec cc1: No such file or directory
  24. make: *** [alias.o] Error 1    <-- varies with different programs
  25.  
  26. or
  27.  
  28. make: *** No way to make target 'filename'. Stop.
  29.  
  30. Is there a problem with my gcc compiler?  Permissions? or what 
  31. else?  I am new to C and so do not know (as yet) what to look 
  32. for.                                             
  33. Until I get this resolved, I am unable to add anything to my 
  34. system. <grrr>
