- At the Las Vegas DECUS Symposium, we are going to run two focus groups
- about migrating to DEC OSF/1 AXP. They are different in that the
- platform of origin is different.
-
- The first focus group is to discuss migrating from Ultrix MIPs to DEC
- OSF/1 AXP. In this session we would like to discuss with
- representative of no more than 10 current Ultrix customers their
- perceptions and experiences of this migration. We would like to get a
- sense of where in the ease-of-migration spectrum they believe their
- applications fall, where they believe they may encounter problems, how
- are they currently being assisted and informed of the migration, and
- how we might improve our migration assistance.
-
- The second focus group is to discuss migrating from VAX/VMS to DEC
- OSF/1 AXP. In this session we would like to discuss with
- representatives of no more than 8 current VMS customers the issues
- involved in changing from the VMS to OSF computing environment. We
- would like to hear where they believe the largest issues are for this
- migration, which pieces of the VMS environment need to emulated - which
- do not, what experiences have they had with third party environment
- packages, for what tasks do they rely on clusters, what tools would
- they want to use.
-
- We intend to have a very interactive 2 hour session for each group led
- by a set of questions we will provide.
-
- If you are interested in participating in one of these focus groups
- (and remember that attendance is limited), please get in touch with the
- following individuals (I will be out of the country prior to the
- symposium - Kurt):
-
- Paul Steeves at steeves@decvax.dec.com
- Sharon MacDonald at sharon@decvax.dec.com
-
- Hope to see some of you in Las Vegas!
