- Just a note regarding the long series of postings about the inadequate
- mathematical capabilities of American students in many fields - I can
- confirm from my experience in teaching college again after a hiatus of 6 years
- that the general situation, from my newest experiences, is worse than ever.
-
- There's little point in relating details, but the current competency gap
- of college freshmen in analytical/math reasoning is making my job in
- teaching them the basics of computing almost a fruitless one ... the word
- used by others - "frightening" - is completely appropriate.
