  13. Ontario Universities Computing Conference to be at McMaster
  14.  
  15. OUCC * OCUTINA * OCCCCD '93
  16.  
  17. The 24'th annual Ontario Universities Computing Conference (OUCC),  sponsored
  18. by the Association of Computing Services Directors (ACSD), will be conjoined
  19. with the ninth annual conference of the Ontario Colleges and Universities
  20. Telecommunications and Information Network Association (OCUTINA) and, for the
  21. first time, with the annual conference of the Ontario Community College
  22. Computing Centre Directors (OCCCCD) at McMaster University, May 30 through
  23. June 2, 1993.  This conjunction of groups is indicative of the ever-growing
  24. cooperation between Colleges and  Universities, seeking cost-effective shared
  25. solutions to common problems.

  27. "Piecing It Together: People, Information and Technology", the theme for the
  28. conference, emphasizes the spectrum of services required for the many
  29. disparate groups within our organizations, the widely varied requirements for
  30. access to information and the elusive promise that technology holds to give
  31. both better service and more ready access. In spite of the dizzying progress
  32. made by technology, its promise to both save money and appreciably improve
  33. the work lives and educational experiences of faculty, staff and students has
  34. not been satisfactorily realized.

  36. Presentations will be welcomed from people involved in any aspect of
  37. computing, networking or telecommunications in a post-secondary educational
  38. setting - managers, support personnel, teachers, researchers, administrators,
  39. and vendors. (Vendor presentations will be required to have a general
  40. technology rather than a specific marketing focus.)
