  13. Just a couple of comments:

  15. I chose Revelation in part *because* I needed variable length fields.
  16. Our database has large amounts of text and even if other database
  17. environments could handle them (most won't), we would waste an
  18. incredible amount of space if we were locked into a fixed format.

  20. Granted that Revelation Tech Support is expensive for the "weekend"
  21. developer, but the Forum on Compuserve is very active and I've gotten
  22. a lot of good help there.
