  31. The Workshop will address issues relevant to the use of AI
  32. technology in economics and management communities. Topics for
  33. the Workshop will cover both technology and applications. The
  34. technologies of interest include but not limited to: knowledge
  35. representation and acquisition (knowledge-based decision support
  36. systems, expert systems), problem solving paradigm (qualitative
  37. reasoning, fuzzy logic, neural networks), human-machine interface
  38. (natural language, machine learning, hypertext and multi-media).
  39. AI applications in areas of accounting, banking, economics,
  40. finance, manufacturing, and management will be emphasized in the
  41. Workshop. The Workshop will have sessions on contributed research
  42. papers and application case studies. There will be separate
  43. tutorials on the use of AI technology on August 23 and 24.

  45. Language:
  46. Throughout the Workshop, English will be the official language.
  47. Translation facilities will not be available.
  48.  
  49. Proceedings:
  50. Proceedings will be published after the Workshop, with K.-P. Lin
  51. and L. F. Pau as editors. Proceedings publisher will be the IFAC
  52. publisher, Pergamon Press or another IFAC approved publisher.
  53. Copyrights for accepted papers are thus transferred to the
  54. publishers.

  56. Registration Fees:
  57. US $200 for Workshop (full-time students: US $75, limited places
  58. only).
  59. US $200 for Tutorials.
  60. US $300 for the complete Workshop and Tutorials.

  64. Registration after deadline must add a late fee of U.S. $50 for
  65. workshop and/or tutorials.

  77. PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

  79. Abstract Submission Procedure:
  80. Authors should submit 700-word extended abstracts, typed with
  81. double-line spacing, in 3 copies before December 31, 1992 to:

  90. Each abstract should include full address of all authors, and
  91. references in numerical order. Authors of accepted submissions
  92. will be notified by March 1, 1993, and will be requested to
  93. submit full length papers by May 1, 1993. Papers not received in
  94. full by this date will not be included for presentation. Full
  95. papers must be original and must be presented according to
  96. guidelines set by the proceedings publishers. All papers must be
  97. in English.

  99. Software Submission Procedure:
  100. Authors not willing to submit a paper, but ready to demonstrate
  101. an artificial intelligence software program, are encouraged to do
  102. so. The submission procedure is the same as for papers. The host
  103. computers, operation systems, utilities and interfaces must be
  104. specified exactly, as well as the architecture and principles
  105. underlying the program. Authors will have to be responsible for
  106. all logistics, including supply of hardware etc.

  108. All authors of accepted papers or of accepted software
  109. demonstrations, are expected to present their work in person.
  110. Failure to do so will result in the corresponding paper not
  111. appearing in the workshop proceedings.
