  11. I just got completely taken for a ride at Toyota on Western and so want to 
  12. warn everyone interested in going there to purchase a car.  Since I
  13. bought a used VW Jetta '88 from there, I cant speak for their new cars
  14. but can tell you about their attitudes.  I am currently drafting a letter
  15. to Toyota Motor Corp., Toyota Credit Corp., The Atourney general,
  16. and the Better Business Bureau to inform them of their business practices.

  18. This is what basically happened.  My wife and I decided to buy a car
  19. a few months back with a set amount of money.  What we decided to
  20. do was purchase a used car or a new one in the same price range 
  21. ($7-8,000, the less the better).  We found the VW Jetta '88 with
  22. only 44K miles for that price.  On driving it it seemed good and every
  23. thing seemed functional.  Signed the deed.

  25. On getting home, we found that the windshield had a crack in it.  It had
  26. been hidden by the Sale Sticker they put on it.  I called them up and
  27. they tried to get out of it but in the end agreed to have it replaced.  Then
  28. I started to notice that the car was overheating.  The temp gague was going
  29. way high.  Also the dash lights flicked off the next day!!!!
  30. I had it looked at by someone else near where I live.  I was
  31. told that the car was not overheating at all but that the wiring under the 
  32. dash was totally burned out.  It would have to be shown to a VW dealer.
  33. Great!  All the excitement about getting a new car was gone.  They also 
  34. told me that the transmission was leaking which would be about $600
  35. to fix.  I took the car back to Toyota on Western.  Ironically, on my
  36. way there smoke started coming out of the vents when I switched on 
  37. the heat.  The kept the car for a week and told me that they had 
  38. replaced the heating coil but could not do anything with the wiring.
  39. I was not satisfied since nothing had been done (they put in this
  40. crappy tape deck that lasted a few hours though to cover up the 
  41. wires and any opening into the disasterous dash!)
  42. I told them that they should take back the car since I was not told of
  43. the problems and that it would cost me substantially (Loeber Motors
  44. gave me an estimate of $600 for rewiring and $600 for the 
  45. transmission.Total=$1200).  They said that I could trade the car in!
  46. They also told me that I would get a few thousand less than my 
  47. purchase price!!  I told them that it wasn't fair since I bought 
  48. the car a few weeks ago.  This is what he said "But business
  49. is not always fair Sir!!!!"   Can you believe it?  I took the car
  50. and decided that I would not deal with them any more.

  52. I took the car to Loeber Motors and paid my $1200.  Its fine
  53. but I owe $1200 more on my credit card....If I wanted to spend
  54. over $9,000, I would definitely bought a new car!! :(

  58. DON'T GO NEAR TOYOTA ON WESTERN!!!!!!!!!
