- I second this attitude (hi Greg!), and would extend this to
- many other areas of life, not least of which would be the
- ridiculous restrictions a Amaroo Park raceway, which for many
- many years was in the middle of the bush at Annangrove, (more
- accurately, in the middle of a farming district) and now has
- local residents who complain about the noise!!
- Hell, what did they expect, moving next to a racetrack?
-
- And the most stupid thing about the whole affair is the way
- the noise nazis measure SPL at the edge of the track, rather
- than the edge of the property.
-
- There are similar restrictions applied to airports, and army
- bases, all of which were there before any local residents moved
- in (although jets are rather louder than Super Constellations).
-
- (Getting back to the original thread) Anyone moving to Lucas
- Heights would have done so knowing full well that there was
- a reactor there. And it isn't as if the effects of radiation
- are a recently discovered phenomenon (not that it's leaking).
