  13. AUSTRALIAN NUCLEAR LOBBY TRIES TO BULLDOZE REACTOR REVIEW

  15. WANTED: ANYONE FAMILAR WITH CONVENTIONAL REVIEW PROCEDURES USED 
  16. IN COST-BENEFIT ASSESSMENTS FOR REACTOR PROPOSALS.

  18. The Australian government is allowing only a month and half for 
  19. public submissions to a government review board in an attempt to 
  20. bulldoze through a new research reactor proposal. If succesful, 
  21. the reactor will likely be built on the site of an older research 
  22. reactor just 1.6 kilometres from residential housing.
  23.  
  24. Organisations and people working in the peace, nuclear and energy 
  25. fields, are requested to lobby the Australian government to 
  26. extend the closing date for submissions beyond 18 December 1992.

  28. The Australian government is highly sensitive to international 
  29. pressure, so any evidence that demonstrates that this review 
  30. fails to meet acceptable international criteria could prove 
  31. extremely embarassing for the ministers and bureaucrats involved.
