- Unfortunately (according to my psychologist), it seems to be quite
- normal for people that society expects to be male to come to grips
- with much of anything with any speed with a counselor.

- It depends, the first counselor I saw as an adult specialized in
- family crisis type things. IE someone who could handle most of the
- cases produced by the Employee Assistance Programs a lot of companies
- have these days. Well he flat out stated that he didn't think he
- was qualified to work with me. Mark one up for Human Affairs
- International for that. Anyways I was then referred to a psychologist
- that apparently works with sexuality and to some extent gender (Both
- of which I was having troubles with when I saw the first shrink).
-
- As I am starting to suspect that my shrink hasn't really dealt with
- gender beyond transvestites, it will probably won't be long until
- I start looking for referrals to another shrink. (I'm not too
- surprised about the shrink, I mean I only know of 3 other t* folks
- in the area, and it hasn't been until recently that the area started
- showing signs of forming a support group)

-
- It's a good question. Non standard thoughts of gender fill many
- of my earliest memories. But as I also had a speech impediment
- when I was young, or the problems that went with it, I kept the
- problem hidden from myself most of the time for fear of the additional
- difficulties of going against how I was perceived.
- I also directly attribute this to a couple of irrational fears I've
- had when I was younger.

-
- That should have to go without saying, but alas. It can cost up
- several hundred dollars to figure that one out.
