Nov 8: Centrum -- Megadeth  (Review)
   The real thing.  Loud, crunching guitars and long hair flailing like
beasts from hell.  Musically Megadeth have become quite good. Its too bad
however the music was drowned out by too much volume in a mediocre sound
system. The crowd was more into it than I've seen in a long time. Though
I haven't been to one of these megashows in about a year.  I first saw
Megadeth back in 1986/7(?) when they played a Boston club called
the Paradise.  I remember when Metallica played the Paradise in 1984.
And not only that but I saw Guns & Roses there a year before they became
famous (1988/89?).

Nov 18: Axis -- Physical Graffitti
   Probably one of the countries best Led Zeppelin tribute bands.
Excellent.  Dont miss em.

Nov 20: Club 3 -- Ultra Blue
    Ex-til tuesday guitarist extroadinaire Robert Holmes lets loose some
of the best guitar sounds in Boston. Its not like til tuesday.  Its the
blues. I've seen them many times and I'm still amazed.  Ultra Blue
won the 1989 Boston WBCN Rock and Roll Rumble.

Nov 20 and 21: Orpheum -- Pat Metheny
    Need I say more?  Ill be there.

Nov 27: The Channel -- Alice In Chains
    The Channel recently reopened after 18 months of closure and bankruptcy.
Thanks g-d. It and The Rat have been around before I was in Boston and
are institutions.  I'm bummin' because I'll be out of town for this
holiday show.  Alice In Chains are one of those "new" Seattle bands.
They mean business. Their new album is better than the last and one of
the songs was featured in the movie "Singles".
(Which I saw twice and was very good.)

Dec 4: Fitchburg Wallace Arena -- Sepultura, Helmet, Ministry
    We're just going for S & H. We dont like Ministry. But Helmet and
Sepultura blow the doors off your brain. S is from Brazil and H from NY.
Figures.

Dec 4: Orpheum -- Joe Satriani  (guitarist extroadinaire)
    Now you too can surf with the alien himself.  Satriani was a teacher of
Steve Vai.  From what I've listened to, IMHO, while they both have the
technique, Joe's got so much more soul. His new album is good, but, IMHO,
not as good as Surfin', or the most excellent Blue Dream (last album).
I'm bummin' I wont be able to go cause you know where I'll be! :)

Calico

    My roommate Dave came up to me a couple weeks ago and said his friend
had to get rid of her cat for some reason and it would be put out on the
street or something if we didn't adopt it. We had talked about getting a
cat anyway so I said sure why not.

    I came home one day and there she was. She's a 2 year old calico colored
cat named Calico. I didn't name her so dont blame me!  So far she seems
very friendly, easygoing, and well adjusted. Not a scaredy cat or a
nutcase. So far. Maybe its just the honeymoon. Maybe we just got lucky.

    My roommate Lee seems to think the cat is ok but Erin hates it. She
agreed to let Dave get it cause she's good friends with Dave and a good
sport.  I asked her why she hated this completely wonderful, well behaved,
and adorable creature. She said she couldn't explain it, she just hates
cats.

    I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that a couple weeks
ago she and her friend Suzy were sitting around shooting the breeze and
talking about how they didn't "need" men.  I said oh yea? Well, I didn't
"need" one either but I wanted one. A woman that is, not a man. :)
See, they say that, but then she starts talking about if she hasn't had
sex in along time does that make her a virgin again? I said maybe if its
been five years or more. She gave me a funny look and said not THAT long!
Not only that but I pointed out that she reads Cosmo which seems to be
directed at girls/women aged 18-25 who obssess about nothing more than what
to wear, what makeup to put on, and men. How to get one, where to find
one, and what to do with him once you've got one. Then once you've got
one, how to keep them, and if things go bad, how to deal with it and then
go out and get another one. And all this from a woman why blithely says,
"I don't need a man."!  How I got on this subject from talking about
the cat I don't know.

  And now, a word about me, the writer, not found in said ad below.
Yes, I have a life.  I don't own a computer. When I leave work I leave this
world behind. :) I've been living in Boston for 12 years and I know
a lot of people, from rockers and technos to intellects and New Agers and
whatever else male and female.  I'm not at a loss for people to see, or
places to go, or things to do.  So why am I doing this here?
Cause I like it. I like meeting and talking to people here as much as I do
in real life. And I'm starting to hear from some great people. And others
who are nameless who've expressed appreciation, you lurkers know who you
are!  Yes, they are out there. Watching. Waiting....

I am a SWM living in the Boston area, nonsmoking working professional,
