  23. from Day One, Sonja.  Inexperience is well and good -- even Juan
  24. Fangio and Jackie Stewart started out as novices, after all -- but the 
  25. point is that if you're so timid behind the wheel that you're nervous 
  26. about even *changing lanes,* then you're not ready to be out there on 
  27. the highway.  You're not doing yourself any favors by placing yourself
  28. in a driving environment in which you're skittish.

  30. You'll have to face the freeways and expressways eventually, of course, 
  31. but you'd be well advised to stick to secondary roads with slower
  32. speeds and less traffic until you build your confidence a bit.

  48. The key word here is "indicated."  Some people are too polite or
  49. unassertive to make their feelings known, particularly drivers
  50. is less urban areas.  That doesn't mean that you can blithely
  51. dismiss the possibility of others being annoyed at you.  If you're 
  52. not an experienced driver, then it naturally follows that you're 
  53. not experienced at watching for such signals and nuances.
