  18. Yes, it would.  Unfortunately, I'd have to shell out my own precious
  19. piasters for one, which I'm unwilling to do at this point -- given that
  20. the Annual National Spendfest is looming on the temporal horizon.

  22. Peeve: Christmas.  Just as I'm starting to recover financially from last
  23. year, it comes around and knocks me flat on my ass again.  I'm no
  24. Diamond Jim Brady when it comes to gifts, nor am I a pauper, but mein
  25. Gott!

  27. Anyway, maybe, if I play my cards right, I can ger one of those 
  28. desktop X-option CD-ROM players.  I have a Walkman to last me in the
  29. meantime -- I use it for listening to Rush Limbaugh in the morning,
  30. and NPR some afternoons.  What I need to buy is a set of those old-
  31. style, clamp-on-your-head earphones so I can tune out my officemate's
  32. telephone conversations.
