- It is a well-known phenomenon in some hypnosis communities that people
- who are asleep respond to hypnotic suggestion, with results similar to
- suggestions made in a "typical" awake volunteer. It does take a little
- longer, though. This also applies to surgical anesthesia - there are
- numerous cases where a comment made in passing by a nurse or doctor has
- been taken as a powerful suggestion by the "unconscious and unaware"
- patient. This little tidbit of information has (happily) not caused
- mass paranoia, but (sadly) has neither caused any incredible moral
- debates.
