- Sorry, but I've been to the aforementioned McDonalds in Oklahoma,
- (Vinita, OK to be exact) and they have a sign on the wall comparing
- the size of their resturant to that of the Moscow McDonalds. The
- Vinita OK resturant is some 2000 sq ft larger.
-
- Even now, I have the ballpoint pen I bought at the gift shop there
- with a picture of Ronald McDonald on it and the words
- "World's Largest McDonald's / I-44 Will Rogers Turnpike / Vinita, OK 74301"
- written on it.
-
- Frankly, though, I have no idea how they are counting square feet here,
- as the Vinita McDonalds doesn't really _look_ terribly large. It has
- perhaps 8 registers or so, compared to the huge looking counter seen
- in pictures of the Moscow resturant. It has a main eating area perhaps
- twice the usual size, and has television sets running The Weather Channel
- and CNN. There is also a smallish gift shop, where you can get anything
- from T-shirts to a novelty radio in the shape of a french fry container.
- Obviously, they are also including in the sq. ft. measurement the
- "travel info" area, the restrooms, and even the gas station in order to
- get such a high figure. Also note that the Moscow McD's apparently
- has outdoor seating, which is not taken into account. In any case,
- it's all probably an advertising plot to keep the honor of the "world's
- largest McD's" on American soil, but officially, anyway, the
- Vinita OK resturant is #1.

- BTW, no, I wasn't driving on the OK turnpike when I stopped there; I
- was on much more interesting OK 66 (formerly US 66 -- The Great Diagonal
- Highway, among other things...) Get Your Kicks on Route 66!
