  25. Sorry, but I've been to the aforementioned McDonalds in Oklahoma,
  26. (Vinita, OK to be exact)  and they have a sign on the wall comparing 
  27. the size of their resturant to that of the Moscow McDonalds.  The
  28. Vinita OK resturant is some 2000 sq ft larger.

  30. Even now, I have the ballpoint pen I bought at the gift shop there
  31. with a picture of Ronald McDonald on it and the words
  32. "World's Largest McDonald's / I-44 Will Rogers Turnpike / Vinita, OK 74301"
  33. written on it.

  35. Frankly, though, I have no idea how they are counting square feet here,
  36. as the Vinita McDonalds doesn't really _look_ terribly large.  It has
  37. perhaps 8 registers or so, compared to the huge looking counter seen
  38. in pictures of the Moscow resturant.  It has a main eating area perhaps
  39. twice the usual size, and has television sets running The Weather Channel
  40. and CNN.  There is also a smallish gift shop, where you can get anything
  41. from T-shirts to a novelty radio in the shape of a french fry container.
  42. Obviously, they are also including in the sq. ft. measurement the 
  43. "travel info" area, the restrooms, and even the gas station in order to
  44. get such a high figure.  Also note that the Moscow McD's apparently
  45. has outdoor seating, which is not taken into account.  In any case,
  46. it's all probably an advertising plot to keep the honor of the "world's
  47. largest McD's" on American soil, but officially, anyway, the 
  48. Vinita OK resturant is #1.

  53. BTW, no, I wasn't driving on the OK turnpike when I stopped there; I
  54. was on much more interesting OK 66  (formerly US 66 -- The Great Diagonal
  55. Highway, among other things...)   Get Your Kicks on Route 66!
