  32. But the whole concept is FLAWED. Limiting IRC to sites running authd
  33. would be a quick-hack semisolution to a small part of the problems to
  34. be dealt with, but would piss off a large number of users currently on
  35. IRC, i.e. the ones who use single-user machines, telnet or are on
  36. sites which don't run authd (and can't convince their admin to install
  37. it just for the sake of IRC ;-) or are on exotic machines on which an
  38. authd perhaps will never run (think of IBMainframes...)

  40. The point is the UN*Xocentristic view behind the proposal. A user does
  41. not equal a login anywhere in the world, and to verify a specific user
  42. is mostly technically impossible.
