- It's definitely "psychophysical", and I'm sure this was chosen to refer to
- an interest in the relationship between mind and matter, rather than the
- psychological discipline of psychophysics. I presume this name was chosen,
- rather than "Parapsychological", in order to make it clear that the IPR's
- field of inquiry would not be restricted to the usual topics of that
- field. In the introduction to one of Celia Green's books, there is an
- invitation for people who might be interested to come to Oxford and find
- out more about the IPR, in which she writes:
- An interest in the phenomena stigmatised as paranormal is not enormously
- relevant; in fact, if such an interest is in any way associated with a
- particular world-view, or if you regard paranormal phenomena as supporting
- any particular beliefs, it is unlikely that you would find working with
- us congenial for long.
