- I've just finished reading "Dying of the Light" by George R R
- Martin, which is definitely an SO.It was actually written in the
- mid-seventies,but apparently he's written some more in the same vein.
- He's also written Fevre Dream,which is a vampire novel,and some shorts,
- including one which won a Hugo. His most famous piece,as far as I can
- tell, is Sandkings,a short story which everyone should have read.Another
- of his shorts,Nightriders,has apparently been filmed,but I don't know if
- the film was any good.
- Also,Iain "M" Banks' Culture works so far include Consider
- Fleabag, The Player Of Games,Use of Weapons,a novella called State of
- the Art,and a couple of shorts.Of his non-SF work,try to catch The Wasp
- Factory,The Crow Road, and in fact anything else you can find.
